A squirrel at the door
Kiara called us over to the back door, to show us this:
It visited with Owen for quite a while:
It came back later to visit the cat. I couldn’t get the camera in time, though.

Very nice, Sam. But they can be a little scary.
We had one come through a window screen on the second floor of our place. At least we think we did. There was a hole in the screen and Mary had seen squirrels trying to get in. It’s in our kitchen. It must have left again because we never saw it. We were a bit nervous for a while after that.
Up close, I can see why people don’t like them. They are a little like rats, and rats are frighteningly intelligent. Poised to take over the world, really.
It struck me later that I was mighty glad that the squirrel didn’t make it inside. I’m not sure how best to capture a squirrel, and I’m not sure what our cats would have done.
My wife and I moved to Oregon from Arizona last year. Our dogs had never seen a squirrel. The first few times they were stunned motionless. They eventually decided squirrels were good fodder for chase.
Thus far they haven’t managed to catch any of the squirrels. I’m glad the dogs have their shots…
